THE CFTC COT REPORT · 1,206 EXTREMES BACKTESTED · ZERO OPINIONS
THE CFTC COT REPORT · 44 FUTURES MARKETS · COUNTED, NEVER PREDICTED
A crowded market turns 38 times in 100. An ordinary week turns 37.
The COT report, decoded, in 90 seconds. Then the count behind it: 1,206 crowd extremes since 2006, all 44 markets regraded every Friday · wins, misses and our own failed protocol, all published.
20 YRS OF RECORD · ONE FROZEN RULE · TESTED ON UNSEEN YEARS SINCE 2019
1 · WHAT THE CROWD EXTREME ACTUALLY TELLS YOU
Crowded is a description. It is not a countdown.
The report tells you who holds what on one Tuesday. It does not tell you what happens next · so we counted what did. Across every comparable case since 2006, 38 in 100 turned inside eight weeks. In an ordinary week, 37 did. That gap is the whole of what the COT world sells you, and it is the width of a rounding error.
2 · SO YOU WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION
That is the part that gets worse, and it gets worse every time.
We pre-registered three levels of confirmation and published all three. The more you demand, the worse the expectancy gets · monotonically, no exception, in both eras. Each added layer costs roughly 0.02R. Later entry surrenders move while the stop noise stays exactly where it was.
Confirmation buys comfort, not edge. That is our own page pricing the comfort, and it is the most useful thing we know. every setup we killed, including ours →
3 · SO WHAT IS LEFT WORTH MEASURING
Your entry was never the thing on trial. The ground under it was.
Nothing here is a signal and nothing here tells you to buy. Your entry is yours · ranges, news failures, zones, whatever you actually trade. What nobody ever measured for you is what the trade costs while it works: how far it ran against you first, how long the wait was, and how often the turn simply never came. That is what a file is, and there are 1,206 of them here, every miss kept.

And this is where all of it comes from. The CFTC publishes one table every Friday. Everything on this site is read out of it, in public, with nothing added.
Big speculators are betting on rising prices, a bigger bet than in 99% of the last 3 years.

Friday’s report, in one sentence
data through Tue, Aug 4 · next report Fri 21:30 CET
The crowd is stretched in 7 markets. The most stretched: BITCOIN, long for 11 weeks straight.
The crowd here is the big speculators: the funds and traders betting on direction, not the companies hedging a business.
THE WHOLE TAPE: crowdedness at 80 of 100 vs every week since 2006 · measured across all 44 markets
Across all 44 markets the crowd has been this one-sided and long 580 times since 2006. 219 of them turned inside 8 weeks: 38 in 100. A normal week does 37 in 100.
Those two numbers are almost the same, and that is the finding. Crowded, on its own, is not a trade. These are counts, not predictions.

When a market qualifies we take the fade in public and grade it for 13 weeks, win or lose.

Why not just a free COT chart?
Every free COT site shows the same thing: who is long, who is short. None of them tells you what happened next. That is the product here. Chart sites sell data: we publish what the data was worth. Gurus sell rules of thumb: we publish the count, how often the rule actually paid. Signal sellers show their winners: our losing files stay up forever. Most comparable setups did not pay, and we print that on every file. The rules were built on 2006–2018, checked on years they had never seen, and every table is public.
