ABOUT · WHY YOU CAN CHECK US
We’d rather you check the record than trust our résumé.
cotreport is an independent research service. It reads the CFTC’s weekly Commitments of Traders report, scores how one-sided each of 44 futures markets has become against its own three-year history, and grades what happened after every past extreme since 2006. That is the whole product: a measured record, not a prediction.
Most services in this corner sell you their track record with a story: a big win, a decade of experience, a name to trust. We think that is backwards. Positioning data does not care who reads it, and neither should you. So instead of asking you to trust a person, we publish the thing you would use to judge one anyway.
We are also not here to replace your judgement. You have a read on your markets, and nothing we publish tests it or argues with it. What we do is put the counted record underneath it: where the crowd actually sits today, what this market did the last times it looked the same, how far those moves ran against the trade before they worked. Pure data, no speculation. You still make the call. You just make it with the file open.
WHAT WE PUT ON THE RECORD INSTEAD OF A BIO
- The strategies that failed. We walk-forward tested our own trading rules and they did not beat a coin flip. We published that, with the tables, rather than quietly testing until something “worked”.
- The losing trades. Every extreme is numbered on the record and stays there, win or lose. The files that never turned are as visible as the ones that did.
- A live forward test. New extremes enter by a frozen rule, blind, and get marked in public every week. You watch it trade, not a screenshot of it.
- The corrections. When an audit changed a number, we changed it on the site and said what and why. The methodology carries every baseline and every failed check.
Who operates it
cotreport is operated by Ventus XII Management GmbH, Wien. The full legal and contact details are in the Impressum, and how we handle data is in the Datenschutz notice. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the CFTC; the data comes from its public reports. Nothing here is investment advice. The map is ours, the trade is yours.
Where to start
Don’t take our word for any of it. Open a full worked file, read a losing one, or check the methodology, then decide.
