THE FORWARD TEST · US DOLLAR INDEX FILE · TRADE #13 · ENTERED BY THE FROZEN RULE

US Dollar Index · crowd long · Jul 2015 over its bar at week 8 · no turn ever confirmed

+1.1%

fade short · graded at the 13-week horizon · on the record for good

entered Jul 13, 2015 · first open after the Jul 7, 2015 reportcrowd long, stretched past 99% of its 3-year range · era: training (2006–2018)window closed without a confirmed turn · the crowd was right

On Jul 7, 2015 the us dollar index crowd sat at the very top of its own three-year range: net long past 99% of it. The frozen rule faded that at the Jul 13, 2015 open, blind. It got over its 2.2% bar at week 8, then stalled: no turn was ever confirmed and the 13-week close was +1.1%. Getting there meant sitting through 2.4% against you first, with no stop to take you out of it. Thirteen weeks later, tracked but never graded, it read -3.3%: the opposite side of zero from where the test left it.

WHY THIS TRADE EXISTS

No one chose it. The rule enters every extreme it sees, at the next session’s open, blind, on purpose. This file answers one question: what was the extreme worth, measured against every comparable extreme in us dollar index’s own record? The published answer is “not much”. Most cases do not turn. That is exactly why the file records what else was present when this market did turn.

Why no stop, no exit? Because this is a measurement, not a managed position. The question is what the extreme was worth under one frozen rule, every time: a stop would smuggle discretion and survivorship back into the record. The adverse sit-through is published for exactly that reason, and the clock, not a choice, closes the window at W13.
